DayTripper Magazine is about day tripping. Whether it be to one place for one day, or to a location to “homebase” your various day trips out of—and we couldn’t think of a better place to feature for out DayTripper Destination of the Month, than Victoria, British Columbia.
Seriously, Victoria has it all. Located on Vancouver Island, it has beaches and valleys and mountains and more. It has water sports, sightseeing, active pursuits and shopping. (Yes, we realize some people may classify shopping as an adventure sport, and well, Victoria has it in spades)!
But Victoria has more than that. It has incredibly good restaurants that are down to earth and amazing. It has great wineries. So what more could you ask for? But Victoria also has a bonus—it’s home to some of the most kindest, hospitable and humble people I have ever met on my travels around the world. So I am thrilled and proud to feature Victoria and its people.
We found Victoria to be the perfect location for singles, couples or families looking for a quick getaway. EVERYTHING we were able to do was close-by (within 15-20 min drive—hey, this editor is from California, and a 20 min drive is NOTHING). Plus, we found a vacation rental on the beach in Cordova Bay. Over a five day stay, we found an excuse to go in to Victoria every single day. But for us, it was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy Victoria streets to bask in the serene peace and quiet of beautiful Cordova Bay. Yin yang, if you will.
Were we able to “do it all?” Of course not! And that’s one of the beauties of visiting this lovely place—there is so much to do, it leaves you wanting to come back for more! (My prayer is to return soon, because let’s be honest, there’s some serious cuisine I already long to revisit)!
What’s great though is this particular visit was with the dynamite duo of the Dave and Michele Adventure Team (DAMAT), and together, we know how to hit the highlights and more, so we can bring back our recommendations to you!
