Taste of Chico: Festival for Foodies

Taste of Chico is a food lover’s dream made into reality. Put on by the Downtown Chico Business Association for over 30 years, this event falls right around September, just in time for people to experience some of Chico’s finest foods and the Northern State’s finest wines and beers all the while immersing yourself into Chico’s unique small-town culture.

Throughout the decades, Taste of Chico has showcased over 50 restaurants and breweries and wineries have brought over 100 varieties of alcoholic beverage.

This event is free to explore, but if you are going to explore, you might as well pay to experience. If you are a foodie you will love this event. If you are not, you will have a great time, nonetheless, enjoying the town and what it has to offer!

Burgers were on hand for visitors to sample

Burgers & Brew were on hand for visitors to sample their famous guacamole and chips

Burgers and Brew, a newer classic burger joint in Chico, served guacamole and chips inside their restaurant, the same guacamole they use on their spicy guacamole burger. This not their typical go-to food of choice, but still equivalent to their level of deliciousness. Burgers and Brew features a variety of styles for burgers and fries.

Tres Hombres, known for their Mexican food, (and well known for their margaritas), serves incredible ceviche. A medley made with shrimp, scallops and pacific cod marinated in lime and pineapple juices, tossed with house-made pico de gallo. ( An original recipe from Tres). Their Mango Margarita samples for Taste of Chico participants were a great refresher for a hot day of walking.

Uppercrust had three types of delectable delights: An assortment of petite cupcakes, salted caramel walnut brownies with caramel and nuts lightly roasted in olive oil and salted. This savory dessert with its creative mix of flavors definitively satisfied the sweet tooth after a scrumptious taste of focaccia bread topped with basil pesto, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, cheese, and olive oil.

While the large quantity of options  at this event may be enough to overwhelm, we are sure that all true foodies will be up to the challenge! Besides, there’s plenty of areas for people to sit, relax and digest. (And you can rock out to many locals bands while doing so, like DECADES, Rube & the Rhythm Rockers, Firefly with Erin Haley, Dylan’s Dharma, and Sapphire Soul)!
